I began teaching after I graduated from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1997.  I continued my education and graduated with a Masters Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2005.  Last year I joined the Urbana staff and I am currently teaching the 5th grade.

Hello!  My name is Susan Rice.  I am an Instructional Assistant.

This is my fifth year at Urbana Elementary.

It is such a pleasure to work with the students at Urbana Elementary and assist them in becoming successful readers.

 This is my twenty-second year of teaching at Urbana.  I have taught first, second, third, and fifth grade here.  I also taught first grade for three years in Ohio, and I substitute taught in Virginia and Maryland.

Welcome to fifth grade!  My name is Teri Young.  I've been teaching for 29 years, all in Frederick County.  I began my teaching career at Middletown Elementary, but I have spent the last 25 years at Urbana Elementary.  I have taught both fourth and fifth grades, but I've stayed in 5th grade for the last 18 years.  I love fifth graders -- and I love Urbana!

Welcome to 5th grade.  As a 5th grader, your child will become more independent and responsible for his or her learning.  It is my privilege to work with your child this year and to prepare him or her for the challenges of middle school.
